The city of Lima has a luxurious historical center with the greatest availability of cultural variety in Peru. Is also the only Latin American capital on the coast and has unbeatable cultural and gastronomic attractions. In case you have more than three hours available you can add some of the places suggested in the following list which are not included in a regular City Tour of Lima.
- The National Archaeology and Anthropology Museum: A museum tracing the prehistory of Peru chronology from the earliest archaeological sites to the arrival of the Spaniards. Here you can see original pieces from and scale models of MachuPicchu and Chain. It is considered the most significant and complete museum in Peru.
- Rafael Larco Herrera Private Museum: It is located in a Vice royal mansion of the 18th century, built on top of a pre-Columbian pyramid of the 7th century. This private museum has one of the most incredible ceramics collections in the world. It is said to include 55,000 pots including an interesting erotic pottery collection.
- Gold Museum: This museum has a private collection of pre-Inca and Inca gold jewelry and ceremonial objects, it also has an exhibition of weapons and uniforms.
- Pucllana Pre-Columbian Tombs: This is a Pre-Inca temple right in the hearth of Miraflores. Some sections have been recently excavated with very interesting results, it has a small site museum.
